West Enders: Join the West End Association!

It is time to renew or start your West End Association membership for 2014.
Dues are only $20! You may pay online: Visit our Membership page to pay online or by mail. The West End Association uses membership dues and money raised through our biennial Holiday Homes Tour for many purposes to:

– Advocate for frequent neighborhood and city issues that impact the West End
– Beautify the neighborhood, to help keep Hanes Park useful, beautiful, and protected
– Install and maintain the Historic West End signs at the neighborhood boundaries
– Publish the West Ender Newsletter sharing neighborhood news
– Advocate for and protect our National Historic Overlay
– Represent the West End before elected and appointed Winston-Salem/Forsyth county boards
– Sponsor WEA social events for neighbors to get to know each other
– Promote the West End as a great place to live, work, and play
– Provide and maintain the West End List Serve to enhance neighborhood communication

WEA activities during 2013 included:

– Being a sponsor for the RiverRun Film festival
– Donating to a/perture’s theater expansion
– Creating one of the floats in the Winston-Salem Centennial Parade
– 4th of July picnic in Hanes Park
– Providing support for Arts Fest 2013 in Grace Court
– Participating in cleaning up Hanes Park with Friends of Hanes Park

The WEA meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Central YMCA to discuss neighborhood issues and to conduct Association business. We often have presentations from guests with topics of interest to the neighborhood. The WEA is one of the oldest neighborhood associations in North Carolina. It was founded originally in the late 1960s to prevent a highway from being routed through Hanes Park.
